De-baptism Taken Seriously?

Should Anglicanism provide ‘debaptism’?
Friday, 27th March 2009. 3:51pm

"As 1,500 people pay to get 'debaptism certificates' from the National Secular Society in the UK, is it time the Anglican Church followed Rome and offered a service for those who wish to annul their baptism?"

After I cast my Yes vote the poll results stood at
YES 96.1%

Free Speech is Dependant on Free Thought

I received a note about an article in the Vancouver Sun. ( Egypt pushes for 'free-speech' resolution at UN )
It reports on a UN Human Rights Council resolution tabled by the Egyptian diplomats. Although, 'limited free speech' would be a closer title, as Egypt is pushing for restrictions.
The rest of the article details the usual nonsense about who can do what and when, you know normal committee politics and procedural quackery, quite distasteful human chicanery really.

But my interest was sparked in the penultimate paragraph - check this -
'According the Western diplomatic source, Islamic countries on the council had sought a deal in which the West would refrain from tabling a draft resolution on religious freedom in exchange for a promise by the Islamic group to leave the free speech resolution to the West, and hold off on tabling a text on combating defamation of religions.'

WHAT phenomenally busted up situation!

Islamic countries want to do a deal to maintain their right to use that well known psychological tool 'god' to control their people!
(that's bad enough but then the west compounds it with)
You can keep your religiously intolerant stranglehold on people whom were born naturally free and we won't mind, as long as you allow those people to freely talk about the freedoms they don't have.

Doesn't that leave a big chunk of science that they won't be able to talk about, along with any viewpoint on any subject that doesn't fit the Islamic line?

To both sides
WHAT A DESPICABLE CHEEK!

NOBODY
has the right to barter
for either of these freedoms
Every unborn baby's inalienable birthright
are freedoms of thought and speech.

Suppress either,
for even one individual,
and we are all diminished.

De-Baptise Yourself

When my children were born over twenty years ago, my wife an I chose the obvious, not to have them baptised (hazed), but I then began to wonder if could get unbaptised, not only because baptism has no basis in reality, but because it gauled me that the a religion still counted me amongst it's number.

Even though the UK Secular Society's certificate does not remove you from the listed sheep of your families particular flavour of mythical delusion, it is a statement to the world / family / friends that those evil religious leaders have no control of you.

Get yourself a debaptism certificate and maybe we can start putting pressure on the churches to remove us from their records.

If all Atheists were removed from the lists of the religious, how many people would the churches be able to count as followers?

More Proof of Evolution?

Human Genome Survey Finds Proof of Recent Evolution
Scott Norris - for National Geographic News - March 8, 2006

"Signs of recent evolution by natural selection are widespread across the human genome, experts say.
Genome researchers at the University of Chicago have identified more than 700 regions in human DNA where apparently strong selection has occurred, driving the spread of genes linked to a broad range of characteristics. ...

The findings, along with other recent studies, begin to provide a kind of genetic narrative of recent human evolution. ...

Genes related to physical characteristics also showed strong evidence of selection, with interesting differences among the three populations. ...

Evidence of different selective pressures operating on different populations may be medically important, says study lead author Benjamin Voight. ...

"This research may provide the foundation for understanding how human evolutionary history has contributed to the susceptibility to complex diseases," the University of Washington's Akey said."
